Bronx Jewish Community Council, Inc. was incorporated in 1972 as the Concourse Jewish Community Council, later changing its name to West Bronx Jewish Community Council and then to Bronx Jewish Community Council in 1986 to reflect its role as the borough wide Jewish sponsored anti-poverty agency. The agency represents the combined anti-poverty and service efforts of the five affiliated local Jewish Community Councils in the borough. |

Through the parent corporation, Bronx Jewish Community Council, Inc., about 5,000 persons annually receive a range of social services. Approximately 70% of these are elderly and are receiving some services from the agency including in-home case services and meals on wheels, as well as those who are able to walk in and receive help with benefits and entitlements, including emergency food. |
